Prohlášení FIT k válce na Ukrajině
Jednota tlumočníků a překladatelů děkuje všem kolegům a kolegyním, které po celém světě pomáhají v mimořádně těžkých okamžicích.
Jednota tlumočníků a překladatelů je součástí Mezinárodní asociace překladatelů FIT — International Federation of Translators, která vydala prohlášení, v němž konstatuje, že mnoha našich kolegů na Ukrajině a v Rusku se silně dotýká současná velmi obtížná doba. Překladatelé a tlumočníci vždy hráli klíčovou roli ve spojování národů a v podpoře míru, porozumění a rozvoje (což stvrdilo Valné shromáždění OSN 24. května 2017 v rezoluci OSN A/RES/71/288).

As the situation in Ukraine worsens and the atrocities increase in intensity, the International Federation of Translators (FIT) reaffirms its solidarity, support and deep concern for translators, terminologists and interpreters in Ukraine who are under attack.
FIT urges its member associations to work to provide language help where needed. If any FIT organisation or their members are in a position to help displaced persons with translation or interpreting services, or are even able to offer to house refugees leaving Ukraine, please contact me directly at president@fit-ift.org and I will pass on this information.
FIT Council would also ask that translators and interpreters involved in the conflict have their rights respected and that it be acknowledged that in warfare, translators and interpreters often come under direct threat.
Translators and interpreters deal in words not aggressive actions, and they have always played a key role in connecting nations and in fostering peace, understanding and development (as recognised by the UN General Assembly on 24 May 2017 in UN Resolution A/RES/71/288). We sincerely hope that words and dialogue will swiftly replace guns and missiles and that translators and interpreters may soon be able to resume the important work they do.
